They also offer gym discounts, three weeks paid vacation plus holidays , a month-long sabbatical to volunteer anywhere in the world, and half days every Friday in the summer. Fluxx is a San Francisco-based remote tech company that aims to improve the complex grantmaking process between funders and non-profits with its cloud-based management platform. The goal is to increase visibility, improve collaboration, and maximize social impact.
Employee Benefits Employees at Fluxx are given competitive compensation, generous health and medical benefits, an annual education stipend, stock options, k matching, and company social outings and volunteer opportunities. Employee Benefits World Wildlife Fund provides paid time off, sick days, holidays, insurance, and medical benefits. The team also offers emergency evacuation and travel assistance, employee assistance programs, and more.
DonorsChoose is a public charity that helps public schools in need to receive resources for classroom projects. It vets requests, purchases items, ships materials, and transparently shows how every dollar was spent. The company has received praise from Fast Company and GOOD Magazine as a top place to work, and is specifically recognized as a great company for women. Team Rubicon is an emergency response nonprofit that employs military veterans and first responders to provide disaster relief.
They have offered additional PAID personal days for those who have needed it. They moved quickly to offer work from home solutions not only for the main campuses, but for the branches as well. They have helped those in financial need, those with physical health needs, those with mental health needs and those with family support challenges.
They were creative in finding ways to keep us safe, informed, connected, supported and appreciated. During this world pandemic, the company made every effort to keep all employees working with no lay-offs. Likewise, they accommodated the employees at every level as they balanced health, child care and all other instances as a fallout to the pandemic.
They went above and beyond! Brian [Moynihan, CEO]'s commitment to no layoffs during as the pandemic worsened has given everyone I've spoken with huge peace of mind. That's a massive commitment to make during a time of uncertainty and says far more about the bank's concern for all of us as employees than any words. I went into the year with huge gratitude to the Bank and my manager for their assistance through tough times.
The crisis, and seeing how proactive the bank was in managing the practical and caring side of the response, the conversations following George Floyd's death, and the commitments we've made to our communities all speak volumes about not only doing our jobs well, but doing the right thing. I'm immensely proud to work for this company. Perkins responded incredibly well to the Covid pandemic. The firm transitioned to remote working in just 10 days and provided all employees, regardless of their role in the company, any and all resources needed to work from home and cope with the emotional stress of these difficult months.
Our management was transparent in the firm's response, next steps, and the general state of the firm. We have many opportunities to virtually connect with co-workers through happy hours and more frequent staff meetings. I feel like all my concerns have been addressed and the firm truly cares for employees' day-to-day happiness, safety, and mental health.
Given the current situation of health being a major focus of concern, I appreciate deeply the 'Thank you' pay all associates have received during the start of the pandemic. Our CEO has personally extended this pay rate through September where so many other essential businesses have suspended it. Although it is still concerning having so much exposure due to our service to the public, I feel comforted to know that if I get sick I will be taken care of because of the financial stability and amazing benefits the company has always offered.
Our company made the decision to require face masks for every guest and associate a FULL month prior to it being a state mandate. We have been diligent to regulate this in order to ensure a safe environment for so many and still excel at world class levels of service!
These actions of safety prove that our executive team are protecting ALL of our associates and are constantly looking for ways to make it safer for everyone to be in.
If there was any good reason to have Nugget Markets be one of the top 10 on your list, it should be for the protocols in place for being a force in safety for the public. I am proud to be apart of this company that may be small in size, but delivers nothing short of gigantic positive impacts! I am not usually the "drink the kool-aid" type of person, however I cannot stay quiet here. One of the many things that really stands out and was reconfirmed to me, is that Nationwide TRULY cares about their associates.
I am truly proud to work for such an amazing company as Nationwide! Pinnacle has always been a great place to work. Many companies create values statements and hang them on the wall, but every decision at Pinnacle is driven by our values: Integrity, Fairness, Learning, Partnership, Balance, Discipline and Results.
The current pandemic is a perfect example. Our leadership was quick to act when it became clear that COVID had the potential to impact the lives of large numbers of people and our economy. Leadership made the safety and well-being of associates its top priority. Associates have been able to work from home. Even though earnings have been under pressure, no associate has seen a cut in pay, and there have been no layoffs and no furloughs. We have continued to focus on building strong teams and ensuring that associates feel valued and secure.
Client safety and soundness became a top priority. When it would be easy to make decisions that affect near-term results, our leadership has focused on sustaining long-term relationships with our clients by ensuring that we treat them fairly and provide sound financial advice in these difficult times.
I would not want to work for any other firm. Red Hat has done a fantastic job of helping employees feel safe, secure, and connected despite the pandemic. Great care has been given to support not only the health of employees, but our emotional wellbeing as well.
Through town halls, company wide emails, and newsletters, we are kept in the loop on how decisions are being made in response to the pandemic. Red Hat started Recharge days - an extra holiday every quarter during the pandemic - to encourage us to log off. This to me is going above and beyond to help out their employees. Additionally, the response from Red Hat to the racial tension has been better than I have ever experienced at a company. At a time when we are physically separated, I feel that Red Hat is finding ways to encourage and foster connection.
While work looks a lot different today than it did a few months ago, I feel supported and able to do my job remotely without feeling disconnected. Through different online collaboration tools provided by Red Hat, I am in constant contact with my team and didn't lose a beat when my work became home-based. I feel incredibly fortunate to work at Red Hat, and talking with friends and family, I feel that Red Hat is head and shoulders above other companies in benefits, culture, wellbeing, opportunity, and productivity.
We have faced great adversity with both the COVID pandemic and changing to a new electronic health record at the same time. I cannot express in words the gratitude I have for everyone working together in these tough times to take great care of our patients and each other.
SAP is a socially and morally responsible company. They are quick to update all employees on evolving priorities and practices with regard to global events such as the pandemic and BLM movement. It has been refreshing to see a company respond so quickly and do everything they can to help and make employees feel heard and encourage us to get involved by donating and offering a match to non-profits, and volunteering to help.
SAP is truly remarkable in adapting to changes and transparency with these larger global issues. The company is upfront and honest about its plans and why they are making them. They have taken the time to create plans and explain them to their employees. It can be easy to be a great company when times are perfect, but they have really shown that they care and are a great company when times are more uncertain.
Leadership focuses on ensuring employees have what we need to be our best; whether that's the benefits package, employee resource groups to celebrate our diversity, or the technology assets that support our ability to work from anywhere. They've rapidly transitioned us to work-from-home with great support for the different situations that each employee faced at home. We were able to quickly move to a work-from-home atmosphere with a ton of support. A lot of us already had the necessary equipment and were prepared because we already practiced working from home for years in preparation for something like this.
Even with the state's "Safer at Home" orders being lifted, Baird is taking a very conservative stance on returning to the workplace and I know that we will not be going back any time soon. They have strict guidelines and milestones that need to be met for us to safely return to the office.
Our Executive team is putting their associate's health as priority number one and that is extremely important to me. I am very proud to work for Baird. I have never been part of a company or organization that stays so true to its word and values. They create a great work environment while treating their employees and customers with integrity and compassion. They have a foundation and are always doing wonderful things for the community. Just recently they gave over a million dollars to help support small local businesses and people who were struggling because of the COVID situation.
That's just one example of the many amazing things they do here at Veterans United Home Loans. I am so proud to be a part of this team. Deloitte cares about its people. Deloitte has done a lot for their employees through Covid including helping parents financially with young children at home as well as kids learning virtually.
I am grateful for how they have rallied around their employees during the pandemic. Deloitte's benefits far surpass any company I have worked for and those of my friends. This company is very unique in the way it dealt with the coronavirus epidemic.
For starters, they provided everyone with a free meal every day throughout our period of being furloughed. They provided us with home essentials, such as toilet paper, soap, shampoo, snacks, etc. They offered help applying for unemployment as well as providing us with resources to find other temporary jobs during the shutdown.
The Cheesecake Factory has done so much more during this time of a new age, as well as in the past. CarMax offered multiple options for employees with children who may have difficulties working full time as many schools have converted to virtual learning.
During the height of the pandemic when a large number of our stores were closed or operating at limited capacity, we were forced to furlough some of our associates. While this is never ideal, I appreciated that the executives took a pay cut and the Board of Trustees did not receive any compensation.
CarMax paid all of the health insurance costs for furloughed associates during this time. Management also worked really hard to bring associates back quickly and some were brought back within two weeks. It just showed how seriously they took the decision and how much the associates are truly valued by CarMax.
The Executive Leadership team has done a superb job of handling the dynamic environment created from the Coronavirus pandemic. They had the foresight to send employees home early, even before state governments recognized the need for social distancing. They have been communicating frequently and transparently about how the business is doing, how they're working to keep employees safe and the additional benefits they've added for childcare, mental and emotional health, etc.
Synchrony Summer Camp was an initiative that was put together very quickly to provide working parents with support for their children over the summer knowing that parents would be working virtually and many households would be sheltering in place due to the pandemic. It was a brilliant idea and executed beautifully, utilizing older children as camp counselors for the younger children.
My children loved the program and were excited to do science experiements, yoga, learn new skills, etc. It was such a nice benefit and demonstrated how thoughtful Senior Leadership was about the struggles of their employees who are working parents.
Synchrony's culture is beautifully unique, it's hard to describe it, it's something you just feel, it feels like family. You are surrounded by people who truly care about you as a person and we're working together toward a common purpose that we all believe in.
You see this from the top down. Over the years, PwC has been agile and thoughtful in responding to unforeseen developments and change, whether economical, regulatory, or environmental. There were frequent webcasts to keep all of us updated, provide ongoing guidance on working virtually, and team together. This frequent connection allowed us to not only address Firm matters, but to band together on other developments in our nation needing our involvement and passion - such as racial injustice.
I have always been proud to work at PwC - but never more so than in The firm has done an amazing job at adapting to recent health and social issues that are at the forefront of society. With the pandemic, leadership communicated early and often, acted in a timely manner to prevent staff from exposure, implemented a program for individuals to take equipment to their home offices, and asked employees about their thoughts on returning to the office.
While working from home, communication has increased via meetings and all hands calls to promote a sense of connection and understanding about firm updates. I am confident that when the offices do reopen, leadership will ensure that it is as safe as possible and will continue to allow individuals and teams to work from home if they desire.
With the recent social justice movement, leadership, all the way to the Chairman and CEO, expressed that recent events did not align to our firm's core values.
My local leadership set up a call with all of the black employees within our practice, including myself, and allowed us to tell our stories and ask questions about how we make our firm and the community a more accepting, understanding, and just place.
It was a powerful session with both black partners and employees expressing sometimes painful or hard stories to tell. After the session, leadership that identified as allies of the movement reached out to their staff to allow them to express themselves, share their feelings, and discuss how we can better support one another.
It was my proudest moment to be a member at the firm and KPMG continues to commit to social justice and equality movements. Their immediate response to the pandemic to enable their near total employee population to work from home and provide all the tools and equipment needed to do their job remotely [makes this a great place to work].
That is over 30, people fully enabled over a few weeks time. As a whole, our firm has been super supportive throughout the pandemic. Rather than lay off people for fear of decreased revenue, our leadership has decided to eliminate bonuses and other expenses so that we can keep people on the payroll.
And they've encouraged our global EY community to do what we can to help others through these tough times - from individuals making masks to donate to first responders to coordinated group efforts to make donations to helping government agencies manage the testing and tracing of those affected with COVID.
I feel our firm and our people care about each other and the broader global community. I think one of the best aspects of Publix is our commitment to the communities around us. To be recognized as a Global Leader for United Way, while only operating in 7 states in one county is truly amazing.
To work for a company that not only cares about you as a person, but also the community as a whole, is empowering.
The CEO goes above and beyond to make us feel like we are truly part of this company. The way Horizon has handled the Covid pandemic has been nothing short of incredible. There is no other company that would be giving days off and extra bonuses like Horizon has over the last few months. You can tell the thought and concern from upper management as we transitioned back into the field and office.
The response to Covid was great! They stepped in and made accommodations in a way that really made a difference. The benefit they extended for dependent backup care was huge for my family! They have also help parents with children heading back to school. I was also very happy to see the public stance and change on anti-racism and social injustice. It makes me proud to say I work for Accenture. Not a great company to work for -- an Amazing company to work for!
BHSF is pro-employee and always has the best interest of employees in mind. This year they've gone above and beyond providing recognition bonuses due to Covid to help employees financially.
My boss trusts me to do what I think is correct. Our commitment to diversity is outstanding and makes me feel proud. I've never worked with so many people who love what they do. It's a pleasure to come in to work everyday!
I give my all to my patients, and I feel I can do that because I am supported in so many ways through Scripps. It makes me want to do even more! I really enjoy the diversity networks. Synchrony is the first company that I have worked for that has valued differences in all employees. Synchrony recognizes that everyone is not the same nor come in the same size, shape, or color and embraces that.
Everyone is given chances to improve themselves and regardless of how much experience you have in the field, you are respected and given opportunities to learn and prove yourself. West Monroe empowers and trusts people - both in their everyday work and with new ideas.
The company also truly leads with a people-first mindset; this comes through in the company's transparency, access to leadership, and the way decisions are made. The firm is a great place to work not because of any one program but because it takes a holistic approach to creating a creative and supportive culture, including opportunities to make a social impact and offering Agile Working options. Lots of empowerment and freedom. Instead of "accepting" everyone for who they are, they embrace everyone's differences.
This company truly walks the walk. You are provided everything you need to be successful in the position and surrounded by people willing to help. One thing that I find unique about Pluralsight is how fully the values, vision and mission of the company are interwoven into everything we do. The values allow us to be the best employees we can be and it shows through the work we do.
I love the kindness is in our DNA. We are encouraged to think independently, to do the right thing for our customers and for each other. I want to work hard for the company that works hard for employees like me. Baptist Health treats their employees as a family, constantly striving to improving the workforce. I am honored to work for such an incredible company. I feel that I am truly cared about not only on a development level but also on a personal level.
I feel that leadership wants their employees to succeed and puts in the effort to help them reach their goals. I love Cooley's commitment to honoring differences, promoting respect, support, inclusivity, and offering the best service possible, both in and out of the firm.
Workiva puts a lot of emphasis on developing employees and helping them to grow. I don't think I've ever worked anywhere this interested in my career development. SAP has allowed me to work part time when my children were born and small. This allowed me to keep my foot in the professional landscape and when I was ready to come back full time, I was welcomed with open arms. There are a few places that come close to the level of passion that I've experienced at REI; a passion for the outdoors, excellence, doing the right thing, and for purpose over profit.
SAS is more than just a company. This is a place that welcomes your family and friends. A place that encourages curiosity and individuality. Employees are trusted by default. I have never felt that someone is looking over my shoulder or micromanaging me. I'm so proud to work here because diversity matters. I've never before worked at a company that has it engrained in its DNA the way that Dropbox does.
We hire for different race, socioeconomic status, age, etc. Comcast always provides comfort and open arms when it comes to new ideas and helping employees grow as much as they desire. I cannot be grateful enough to work in such a supportive and opportunity-giving environment! People here really take pride in what they do. Being able to work from home or leave the office early to handle my life outside of work with myRyan and being trusted to still get my work done. This makes me feel as if Ryan genuinely cares about me as a person and not just an employee.
This is truly a company where all levels of management show caring and respect to all employees. We are highly encouraged by management to also live a healthy work life balance which encourages a positive mindset and culture.
What makes Credit Acceptance unique is its listening culture. The extent to which feedback and ideas from all levels of the organization are taken into consideration is unlike anything I've ever seen before.
Everyone here truly has a voice. We have a saying, 'A Bainie never lets another Bainie fail. We watch out for each other.
We always pitch in. We will go to great lengths to help other members of the team no matter where they are in the world when they ask for help. I like the freedom I am given to do my job without someone managing everything I do. With an S corp, the profits are passed directly to the S corp shareholders, meaning shareholders are responsible for the taxes.
This allows the S corporation to avoid corporate tax, as the profits are being taxed at a personal level when the shareholders report it on their income tax returns.
But, there's a catch: any shareholders of an S corp can't be corporations, nor can they be partners with the company. This means shareholders are generally part of a trust or estate, or are individuals and non-profits. This limits who can be a shareholder, but again, allows you to take advantage of lower corporate taxes in many cases.
S corporations can be general partnerships, LLCs, or corporations, making them rather flexible. While there are certain tax benefits, it's worth noting the IRS tends to pay extra attention to S corporations. This is because the structure provides loopholes through which shareholders may try to evade taxes. For example, an S corp could claim employee pay is actually a distribution and avoid taxes.
A C corporation is similar to an S corporation, in that it can be a partnership, corporation, or LLC. A C corp is also privy to certain tax benefits, chief of which is that the profits of the company are taxed independently of the profits of the owners. Unlike S corps, a C corp can have any number of shareholders from any background.
This means C corp shareholders can also be employees of the corporation itself. But, a C corp must have a board of directors. The board of directors acts as the decision-makers for the company, while the shareholders are more like the financial backing. C corporations can be hit with double taxation, however, which happens when the profits of the company are taxed at the corporate level and then again on individuals' income tax returns.
This is often avoided by spreading profits out to employees as benefits, which allows the corporation to be taxed at a lower rate on a personal tax return. But, this complicated corporate structure often necessitates an account or financial advisor, which is an added cost.
If your plan is to grow your business and eventually sell it, a C corporation can be a great way to keep your personal assets as a separate legal entity from your professional corporation.
The ability to have a number of shareholders, even those from other corporations, gives C corps great growth potential, too. Just remember: you will likely incur financial costs in the form of paying advisors, especially come tax time. A non-profit corporation is similar to a traditional corporation in structure: There's generally a board of directors, as well as donors or financial backers.
But, a non-profit generates no profits, as the name implies.
