Today's walking starts off quite easy, from Vazon Bay along the promenade bringing you to the headland dominated by Fort Hommet, one of the many coastal forts on the island. The path then brings you to Cobo Bay with its fine sandy beach which is one of the most popular on the island.
The spectacular viewpoint at Le Guet is not to be missed as you make your way along the coast. A detour to visit the gardens at Saumarez Park is a must to see their Victorian walled garden and to explore this National Trust estate. Overnight Vazon Bay. Continue along the western side of Jerbourg Point back to your starting point at Fermain Bay. The three to four-hour trek, with some challenging ups and downs, has it all: wild headlands, plunging cliffs, deep-cut coves and island views. At Petit Port Bay on the south coast, steps descend to the secluded beach at the base of the cliff, its white sands uncovered at low tide.
Relax in the coastal garden at Moulin Huet Tearooms before continuing in the footsteps of the French Impressionist artist to the curious rock formations and caves at the Dog and Lion Rocks. Finish at Saints Bay Harbour with its 18th century round tower. Allow up to two hours walking time, one way. The three-hour route meanders through valleys, woodland and meadows, taking in a chapel covered in mosaics and a historic watermill.
Head west, then north back to Le Preel along country lanes of traditional buildings, including an 18th century watermill at Les Niaux. A Martello tower was added in , while the Germans tightened the defence during World War II with bunkers and armoured casemates. The coastal route follows the beach at Cobo Bay, where the Guernsey flag is hoisted on a rocky outcrop out at sea on Liberation Day, the Grosse Rocque.
Walk the white scalloped strands of Grandes Rocques with another fortification and Port Soif, finishing the two-hour coastal ramble at Port Soif Nature Reserve. There are plenty of beach kiosks, fish bars, traditional cafes and restaurants along the way to stave off hunger. Follow country lanes northwest to the wooded Le Guet overlooking Cobo Bay. Wander through the leafy pathways back to Saumarez Park.

This is a km multi-island hiking trail following the coastlines of Jersey, Guernsey, Alderney, Herm and Sark. Of course, following the whole of the trail would involve a certain amount of boat travel as well as walking, and many walkers choose to concentrate on one island at a time.
The Guernsey section of the walk is 64 km 39 miles. Like the rest of the Channel Islands Way, it is an unofficial trail. This means that it is made up of different footpaths around the island, with roads through the urban areas.
However, although a map is recommended, the direction of the path is easy to follow in most places. Guernsey has some magnificent coastal scenery, some of which can only really be appreciated by walking.
There is a wide variety of coastal landscape, including cliffs, sandy bays and level paths. In the north you pass through nature reserves and there are yachting harbours to the east. Then there is the tiny island of Lihou, connected to the mainland by a causeway.
Occasionally the path comes inland, following quiet country lanes. Elsewhere you walk through sleepy villages and towns before returning to the relative bustle of St Peter Port, the main town. Another pleasure of the Guernsey Coastal Path is the many historic sites you encounter along the way.
