But I wanted to be a good friend and go with her. I figured I should watch the first three movies so I knew what was going on. And as soon as I watched those movies, I was hooked. Once I had seen BD part 2, I downloaded all the books. Then I bought all the soundtracks. I started reading it in the end of and into I had been scrolling the shelves of the library ya section and I saw it in graphic novel, and so I became intrigued by the beautiful colours and each character that I checked it out and brought it home with me that night.
Then I wanted to read the next books, but they sadly didn't have it at the library. And so by the time my bday came around, in March, my bff had bought New Moon for me, and so i felt that I had to read the actual first book. I love the twilight saga so much and it brought me into the world of reading again, along with a ton of other ya books. I owe my life now to reading, so thanks Stephenie. Well, I thought it was very stupid and sappy at first so I basically refused to watch the movies.
But a lady at a car dealership saw me reading a book, and she asked me if I had seen twilight. I said no, and she recommended them to me. My parents overheard and they wanted me to try them out, I basically refused for like 2 weeks but I gave in. By Eclipse I was absolutely in love and it became an obsession. I bought all the books, the movies since I watched them on Netflix , props, extra books, merchandise, I even bought the blue jacket Bella wore in Eclipse bc I thought it looked comfortable and cute.
Basically I was forced and now I can't stop watching them. Then I was like, huh this is interesting and I went on to watch every single Twilight clip I could find. By then I was obsessed and had watched enough clips to understand the whole story i didnt know where i could find the movies then. My older sister read the books and as the films came out I had to watch them with my family but never liked it.
Over time I started to like the last two films. You should bear in mind that everything is so minimized in the movies.
The really romantic scenes are cut short. Laurizm said: I think you should read the book first. I watched the movie first and i thought it wasnt so great like everybody else said. Then i read the books and i totally loved it. Its absolutly different, even though the movie is well adapted and its nice to watch it after knowing the story. You'll understand the movies better. The twilight one was crappily thrown together. And the New Moon one was good, but during some parts it would've been hard for me to understand what was going on if I hadn't read the book first.
If you haven't read the story, the main details won't be understood, and you'll practically miss the main part. It would also be a good idea to keep on reading the series afterward so when the other movies come, this won't happen again. ScottishChic said: Definately read the books first. They are dead big but it's kind of like Harry Potter they leave out bits and if you read the books first you may understand it better.
Abilei said: I say read the books first. I did the while watching the movie then reading the books thing and I regret it. I was SO lost on so much of it, it took me awhile to get everything straightened out! But if you like films you should watch film first. But if I were you I will read books. It is more exsiting and you learn more things.
Read books first!!! Aliceseesfuture said: the books r always better than the movies so read the books first in the books u can make what the movie goin to look like before u watch it. NCISLuverjk93 said: Thats kind of tough because if you read the books first then the movies will most likely disappoint you, but if you watch the movies first then you may get bored reading the books You Don't want it to be given away do you?
It would so much less exciting that way. I read the books a million times and I think they're better than the movies so youy should read the books and then watch the movies. That way you can complain about it and act like you know everything lol!
They have more information. The movies don't have that info. And the books are way better than the movies. Lyannab said: movies first, deffinitley. Renesmee said: i think u should read first because it would make more sence when u see the movie. If u see the movie first it would be a spolier to u. So read the book first then see the movie thats what i did and the movie made sence to me after because i read.
You can understand a lot more, when u watch the movie.. Like, when you read the books, you will definitely be in your dream world, imagining everything.. When you watch it, you can enjoy your imaginations as well as the movie..
If you watch the movie first, you would miss a lot of things covered in the book.. Movie is just like a preview of the book.. Movie is just not so deep as the book! The movie doesn't explain as much. Jayy-Kayy said: I'd watch the movies first then begin reading. I saw the first Twilight before I started reading.
And I enjoyed much more that way. Charlieminster said: Watch the movies frist. If you do thank and then you read the books and it gives you more info on wat happened in the movies. So I personaly think you should watch the movies and then read the books. Karipoof said: Read the books first. They explain things the movies don't.
Plus they help you understand the movies better. It will be easier to understand. And on the plus side you yell at the screen when they get it wrong thats what I do. With all books turned movies. They're so much better. BlackStar said: first read the series JewleeAlizabeth said: yes the books are much better i read the first book in 4 days, and i knew i had to have the rest.
Sharon27 said: I watched Twilight first, and am really happy I did. Reading Twilight and each subsequent book is much more enjoyable when you have faces and voices to put with the characters. Also, I found I was able to better absorb little details in Twilight I might have otherwise missed had I been trying to piece together the larger story.
I should mention though, the other books are much better than the movies so my recommendation is to watch Twilight, then read the entire series. Hope this helps :. Just realized you posted the question a year ago. In the movies they tend to change some parts. So when you read, you understand more.
I don't. I love the books. I love the way it's written, the way it makes me think about my own live, and what I should do better for my loved ones. Iris: I think you shouldn't watch the movies. If you want to, please, first the books! The movie don't makes you think, it makes you brainless. To eveyone who only loves the twilight mvies, Think about what you like. Do you like robbert pattinson, or do you love the storyline?
If you can answer this question with the truth, by saying, I love the storyline, than at least you're heathy. Robbert is hot, but hotness of a man is not something that should be the basics of if you like a serie or not.
However, in my opinion, the books are just a little better, so I think you would be able to enjoy the series more that way. If you enjoy the books, you'll love the movies. If u want my Advice i would read the book first because books have detail and that detail is not in the movie. Petericia said: there's no need to read the but if you want to read so start from the beginning. Animefangirl2 said: Wow.
This is hard but I would say The movie first. If u read the books first then it will spoil the movie and all u will have to say are all the mistakes the movies made. Flickerflame said: It really just depends on you. If you read the books first, do you find yourself getting irritated by any parts which get omitted or changed? Does seeing the films first affect your ability to imagine the characters and scenes your own way? I read the first book then saw the first film before reading the rest of series.
I enjoyed them that way, but I think I'd have enjoyed as much if I'd read all the books first, or watched all the films first. They stay pretty true to the books or true enough not to irritate me, anyway, unlike certain other series. The films tell the story well enough that I think people could follow it without needing to read the books first. But then there's one scene which is changed and I think the change was more shocking and had more impact for me because I'd read that part of the book and was expecting it to stick to canon trying to be vague so that if you read the books first, you might be shocked in the same way.

Even in the movies Really bad acting, by the way , the person who plays her has like, this blank stare the entire time.
Even when the one guy kisses her at lunch, she's giving the girl next to her a look that says, "What? Did I pee myself again? It's unnatural. And little ten-year-old girls, believe what you will. But really, you shouldn't be reading this stuff. Why not read Catherine Called Birdy?
Best and most funny book of all time about this stubborn, personality-packed girl who's being forced to get married--to the ugliest, most disgusting man ever. But will she have to marry him? This review Helped me decide 3. Had useful details 4. Read my mind 3. Report this review. Teen, 15 years old Written by stellayvonne April 1, Compelling and Romantic - Even to a skeptic I am a teen and for a long time I thought myself far above Twilight, but then I watched all five movies in one night at a sleepover and was engrossed despite my reluctance. Admittedly Edward's perfect face was probably a good portion of it, but I was curious enough about the plot to go home and read the book Twilight.
The book was significantly better than the movie overall. I was able to better understand and experience the plot and characters, especially Bella. I've noticed the main complaint about this book from adults is the abusive relationships displayed in a glorified manner, and I agree that this is not a mute point.
Reading and watching I noticed this myself, and was uncomfortable with it. I was conflicted because it went against many of my values, but eventually realized that it was legitimate to address this discomfort without jumping to what is by many considered the correct conclusion. To ponder the flaws of the love and characters but at the same time swoon over the romance, root for the protagonists, and understand why their love is worth pursuing despite the conditions it creates. It's a matter of being able to view this with a lense of complexity and fantasy.
Throughout the book the topic of the potentially abusive manner of their relationship is addressed and critiqued. They both are aware that it is dangerous and unconventional, but love each other enough to keep on trying. Love is a powerful and strange thing, they have the right to pursue this love, make decisions, and weigh the consequences together as long as they both love and respect each other.
All in all I think it is important to consider this as more than just a teen fling, rather as a story.
Whatever your opinions are this is a well crafted, romantic, complex story, and even if the characters and the decisions they make are in no way perfect, teenagers should be exposed to more than one type of being and one type of love story. Not every story has to teach a lesson or have a moral, sometimes it is simply that, a story. As long as the reader considers it maturely, I see no reason that Edward and Bella, the Twilight Series, or the reader themselves should be condemned for immersing themselves in this world.
Helped me decide 2. Had useful details 2. Teen, 14 years old Written by DayCassi0peia August 2, The plot was just pretty much two people falling in love. The characters also lacked thought in my opinion. The characters were pretty much just plot-driven. Just used to make the story happen.
Read my mind 1. Teen, 17 years old Written by ccccccm March 22, Helped me decide 1. Read my mind 2. Very Intresting It does have a few cases of swearing but a good story. Romance is constant but it tends to just be kissing, touching, and flirting.
Had useful details 1. Teen, 14 years old Written by oscartrouble May 22, One of the best books ever Twilight is one of my favourite books ever! Anyone who hasn't read it is missing Out. This title contains: Consumerism. Positive role models. Helped me decide. Kid, 11 years old May 17, Awesome Book!!!! Great book! If kids are mature, they can even read it when they are younger I read it when I was in 3rd grade an I am in 5th grade now.
There is nothing to really be concerned about when your kids read this book. Kid, 11 years old June 22, Teen, 13 years old Written by BookWorm April 28, A total teenager book! Hey guys! Twiilight is one of the best books ever! As you can see, I marked Twilight with lots of concerns.
If you are a matured teen, I think that you can totally handle this stuff. The violence is when Edward or Jacob loose control, and they go crazy. Other part is when Bella freaked out and jumped over a cliff and nearly killed herself. The sexualy part is when Bella and Edward kiss and when Bella tries to have sex with Edward.
Language wise, well that depends on what you think is bad language. The noticible product placement is when Edward drives super expensive parts as a yound teenager. The messages aren't that positive because Bella hates herself cause Edward is leaving her. Also, I think that its really inappropritae for a 17 year old to get pregnent.
Its better then Harry Potter for sure! Love it love it love it! You're missing out big time so go the the library and borry a copy! Teen, 13 years old Written by kEN March 19, Had useful details. Teen, 13 years old Written by Deeny June 5, Awful messages. Awful book. As all the hype about this started up around me, I decided to buy all four what a mistake books and read them. I simply couldn't identify with Bella, as all she seemed to do was whine and complain and by the end or maybe even the middle I was sick sick sick of reading about Edward's "marble dazzling chest" and "smoldering topaz eyes".
It seems like Mrs.
